Freedom of Information Act

The US Department of Treasury and the Department of Justice (DOJ), like all other federal entities, are generally required under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to disclose records requested in writing by any person. However, agencies may withhold information pursuant to nine exemptions and three exclusions contained in the statute. ( Title 5 of the United States Code, section 552)

The FOIA applies only to federal agencies and does not create a right of access to records held by Congress, the courts, or by state or local government agencies. Each state has its own public access laws that should be consulted for access to state and local records.

If you want to know what they have on you WRITE THEM. They must answer, regardless of how much they will give you. At least you will have a starting point. Here are some of the contacts you may need in relation to OFAC’s business and the other departments and agencies connected to OFAC’s operations.
